Smokey is a super cool BLM gelding that has been there done that!  He definitely does pick his people and if you are one that he picks he is one of the most loyal horses you will ever be around!  He is probably one of the prettiest mustangs around looking like a big stout QH.  We DNA'd to see what breeds he has in him and he came back as #1 Quarter Horse, #2 Hanoverian and #3 Holsteiner, which would explain his stout build.  We have had Smokey for a little over 4 years now and he has been a terrific horse for us.  We have mainly used him ponying at the racetrack which he jumped right into like a pro.  He holds his ground and won't let the colts push him around and can drag one as well.  He's been used at both Santa Anita and Del Mar and also ponied some Breeders Cup horses down in Del Mar in 21'.  Smokey has been on the trails in Norco, the river bed and has even made a few trips to the beach.  Really can't say anything bad about this gelding however being a mustang we will only consider selling him to a horse experienced home.  We are NOT selling him as a beginners horse.  He has been a great horse for us and the only reason we are considering letting him go is we are changing paths and no longer need as many ponies as we have.  We will be very picky where this guy ends up!
